On March 7, Kyiv hosted the GovTech Meetup, organized by the Global Government Technology Centre Kyiv. The event brought together government leaders, innovators and key stakeholders to discuss the future of GovTech in Ukraine and strategies for strengthening digital governance.
A key highlight of the meetup was the presentation of the World Economic Forum’s latest report, The Global Public Impact of GovTech 2025, delivered by Manuel Kilian, Managing Director of GGTC Berlin. This report provides a global perspective on the role of technology in transforming the public sector and offers valuable insights into Ukraine’s digital strategy. Manuel Kilian visited Kyiv to strengthen the cooperation between GGTC centres and engage directly with local stakeholders in digital governance.

Ukraine’s remarkable journey toward digital leadership stands as a global example of how digital transformation can be achieved, serving as a key piece in advancing GovTech worldwide. Being in Kyiv and engaging directly with stakeholders was truly inspiring, and I look forward to returning soon - and having a fellow centre in Kyiv is a great privilege, providing an optimal foundation for collaboration and driving meaningful progress together.

The event also emphasized the close collaboration between GGTC centers in Kyiv and Berlin. This partnership is instrumental in ensuring that global best practices are effectively adapted to the Ukrainian context while fostering knowledge exchange and joint initiatives in digital governance. By working together, these centers create a bridge between international expertise and local implementation, accelerating the adoption of innovative solutions for the public sector.

In the networking part, participants engaged in discussions on the challenges and opportunities of digital governance, sharing experiences and identifying potential areas for collaboration. The networking session provided a platform for fostering partnerships and exploring new solutions for advancing GovTech in Ukraine.

Ukraine is a vivid example of how GovTech can transform a country even in the most difficult conditions. GGTC Kyiv is not just another successful project, but much more: it is a strategic investment in the future, an opportunity to work together on innovations in public administration. I am grateful to the Government of Switzerland, which has been supporting Ukraine's digital transformation for more than 10 years under EGAP Program. Without this partnership, innovative projects such as GGTC Kyiv, as well as a number of other innovative achievements such as Diia, eMaliatko services, the first state application for schools Mriia, or the world's first online marriage would not have been possible», said Victor Liakh, East Europe Foundation President.
